   Just like his son, Jacob Shannon (below); Owen Shannon is listed as a "Labrador" which is Spanish for "Farmer" in Stephen F. Austin's Register of Families.  He was not the owner of a trading post.  Owen  Shannon and John Shannon's place of origin is shown as Arkansas and the date they arrived is shown as November, 1830.

   Just like his father, Owen Shannon (above); Jacob Shannon is listed as a "Labrador" which is Spanish for "Farmer" in Stephen F. Austin's Register of Families.  He was not the owner of a trading post.  Jacob Shannon's place of origin is shown as Arkansas and the date he arrived is shown as November, 1830.  This 1830 arrival date corresponds with with a number of other documents executed by Jacob Shannon.  As an example, see Jacob Shannon's 1870 affidavit in support of Mathew Cartwrights Pension Application where he swears, "And Jacob Shannon says that he is a resident citizen of Montgomery County and has resided in what is now said County from the year 1830 to the present date..."
